Can I buy bonds on the secondary market or only through direct issuances?

I know I can buy bonds through the platform, but can I buy bonds from others once I’ve invested or is it only through direct issuances?

I think you can only buy new issues from the platform, not secondary market ones.

You can buy bonds on the secondary market, but it’s not as common. The platform mostly lists new issuances.

Okay, so if I wanted to buy from someone else who already has the bond, I can’t do that easily here?

Exactly. The secondary market for bonds isn’t like stocks where you can just trade freely. It’s a bit more restricted, and liquidity is an issue.

But, can’t you still buy and sell bonds between people? If you find someone willing to sell?

You can, but it’s not seamless through the platform. You’d need to manually arrange that and it won’t be as fast as trading stocks.

Yeah, I’ve read about secondary market trades, but honestly, I never really looked into it. Too much hassle.

It’s not as simple as buying and selling on an exchange. Some platforms allow secondary market buying, but you usually have to check with the issuer or trustee, and there’s not always a market for it.

Seems like secondary market bonds are not as easy to deal with. Might just stick to new ones for now.

Yeah, stick with new issues for simplicity. Secondary market can be tricky unless you really know what you’re doing.
