Why does the yield shown change even when nothing else looks different?

I’ve been tracking one bond for a few days and the yield keeps moving slightly. Nothing else seems to change, so not sure what’s driving that.

Yield depends on price. Even small price changes will move the yield a bit.

price didn’t look very different though, maybe a few rupees

that’s enough actually, even small change shifts the calculation

yeah i thought it’s some bug first time :joy:

The relationship is inverse. When price goes up, yield comes down and vice versa. Even minor movements can reflect in the yield because it’s a calculated number, not a fixed one.

so the bond itself isn’t changing, just the entry math?

Exactly. The cash flows remain the same. What changes is the return based on the price at which you enter.

got it, i was assuming yield is a fixed attribute

same, took me a bit to realise it keeps moving
