How often do corporate bonds pay interest - monthly, quarterly, or annually?

Hey everyone, I’m exploring corporate bonds for the first time and noticed that each bond has a different payout structure.
Can someone explain how often corporate bonds typically pay interest? Is it monthly, quarterly, or annually?
Just trying to figure out what’s normal before I build my fixed-income plan.

Great question, @Gaurang interest payout frequency is one of the most important things to understand before investing.

In India, corporate bonds can have multiple types of interest payment schedules, and it depends entirely on the issuer. Typically, you’ll find:

  • Annual payouts, most common among long-term corporate issuers

  • Semi-annual payouts, common with high-rated and PSU-linked issuers

  • Quarterly payouts, seen in NBFCs or private issuers

  • Monthly payouts, rare, but available in select structured or higher-yield products

You’ll always find the exact payout frequency clearly mentioned on the bond’s details page on BondScanner.

If you’re looking for bonds with a specific payout style (monthly income, quarterly cash flow, etc.), feel free to let us know - we’d be happy to guide you to the right options.

Adding my experience, quarterly payouts are my favourite.
Gives a nice cash flow without being too frequent.

Thanks for sharing your inputs, @Divishtha
