Payment got deducted from my bank but the bond is not showing in my portfolio. It has been 2 days

I invested Rs 10,000 in a bond on BondScanner two days ago. The money got deducted from my bank account immediately and I got a payment success screen on the app. But the bond is still not showing in my portfolio section. I checked my demat and it is not there either. I am a bit worried. Is this normal or has something gone wrong?

Do not worry, this is a known gap in the settlement process and it does not mean anything is wrong with your investment. After payment is confirmed, the bond goes through an allotment and depository credit process that typically takes T+2 working days. Since you invested 2 days ago and one of those may have been a weekend or a holiday, you may just be at the start of that window.

Check your email first. BondScanner usually sends an allotment confirmation email within 24 to 48 hours of the investment. If you have received that, the bond is on its way to your demat and should reflect within the next working day.

I had the same thing happen with my first investment. Panicked a bit when it did not show up immediately. The allotment email arrived about 36 hours after payment and the bond appeared in my demat the next morning after that. Tapas is right, the payment success screen just means the money moved. The actual bond credit is a separate step.

I just checked my email and there is an allotment confirmation from BondScanner from yesterday evening. So that is done. I just need to wait for it to show in the demat now?

Yes exactly. Allotment confirmation means it has been processed on BondScanner’s side and sent to the depository for credit. Should reflect in your demat within 1 working day from the allotment date. If it still does not show by tomorrow evening, email support@bondscanner.com with your registered email and the allotment confirmation attached. They will check the depository credit status and follow up.
